Community Involvement

Meet Peter Acquaro: A Dedicated Champion of Public Safety in the Southwest Management District
Peter Acquaro has always carried a deep passion for public service and community engagement, values instilled in him from a young age and strengthened by his service in the U.S. Navy. Guided by the belief in leaving things better than he found them, Peter applies this principle not only in business but also as a dedicated neighbor and civic leader.
His community involvement began in 2008 when he was elected Director of Section 5 for the Sharpstown Civic Association. In 2009, inspired to grow as both a civic and business leader, he joined Leadership Houston Class XXVII, an experience that motivated him to run for Houston City Council that same year. Although not elected, Peter remained undeterred and continued serving his community.
In 2011, Peter was elected President of the Sharpstown Civic Association and appointed by former Mayor Annise Parker to the Southwest Management District Board, where he eventually became Chair of the Environmental & Urban Design Committee. In this role, he helped lead the effort to develop the district’s branding and signage still seen today. He later shifted focus to public safety and now serves as Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the Public Safety Committee, partnering closely with Houston Police and Fire Departments to improve safety initiatives across Southwest Houston.
Peter also oversees one of the district’s cornerstone events—the March on Crime Luncheon, which honors first responders who selflessly serve and protect our community. After the passing of his father in 2022, Peter was further inspired to add a tribute recognizing fallen first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Peter’s passion for service extends beyond civic life. Since 2006, he has been a proud member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and served on the local Houston Chapter Board from 2015 to 2019, including a term as President from 2017 to 2018.
